Advising & Counseling

Academic Advising provides services designed for student success. All visiting students and students with prior college credit must submit an official copy of college transcripts and placement test scores (if applicable) to Student Information and Records (for evaluation of transfer credits and verification of prerequisites.) Do not attach a copy of your transcript to your request for online advising.
Our advisors support Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree seeking students and students completing developmental education course(s). The College is working closely with public health authorities and is focused on providing timely information, reassurance, and support to our staff, faculty, and students as we continue to take necessary measures to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 at all of our campuses and to our broader community.
This, in fact, is part of what academic advisers can do and were available to do. While some students needed to contact mental health services or wanted to maintain their relationship with clubs and other co-curricular groups, they all had to be in touch with their advisers as they dealt with the myriad issues confronting them.

NOTE: Advising services for part-time and online programs and courses are available at RRC's Notre Dame Campus. Current PVCC students can meet with the Business Advisors by phone appointment, availability varies. Academic Advisors provide you with support throughout your college career, from application to graduation.
Prospective students should contact Admissions for information about becoming a student. Therefore, students that have less than 13 credits are required to meet with Academic Advisor to discuss their Program of Study and plan their semester courses. At this point, all academic advising will take place online.
Effective advising requires that the student and advisor contribute equally to the educational planning process. A notification will be sent to your student email account from the registrar if you do not meet academic standing requirements. Students must fill out the online request form (for Broad courses) or follow departmental procedures (for courses outside Broad).

Academic Pathway Advisors can assist you in selecting courses, choosing a major (Highline Pathway), degree completion, credit overloads, and removing blocks. For more information please call Advising and Career Services at 602-243-8330. As instruction moved online, so did academic advising.

Please note that there is special advising available for certain student populations and programs. If you have been enrolled every semester since you started at TCC and have a declared major, schedule an appointment with your assigned academic advisor.
